OpenBSD v4.3 - Final

The OpenBSD project produces a FREE, multi-platform 4.4BSD-based UNIX-like operating system. Our efforts emphasize portability, standardization, correctness, proactive security and integrated cryptography. OpenBSD supports binary emulation of most programs from SVR4 (Solaris), FreeBSD, Linux, BSD/OS, SunOS and HP-UX.

OpenBSD is freely available from our FTP sites, and also available in an inexpensive 3-CD set. The current release is OpenBSD 4.3 which was released May 1, 2008.

OpenBSD is developed by volunteers. The project funds development and releases by selling CDs and T-shirts, as well as donations from organizations and individuals. These finances ensure that OpenBSD will continue to exist, and will remain free for everyone to use and reuse as they see fit.

OpenSolaris 2008.05

OpenSolaris is an open source project created by Sun Microsystems to build a developer community around Solaris Operating System technology. It is aimed at developers, system administrators and users who want to develop and improve operating systems. As of June 2007, more than 60,000 community members are registered on OpenSolaris.org with only around 2,000 members being employed by Sun Microsystems. An active OpenSolaris User Group community is now growing worldwide, and dozens of OpenSolaris technology communities and projects are being opened on opensolaris.org.

OpenSolaris is derived from the Unix System V Release 4 codebase, and has significant modifications made by Sun since it bought the rights to the codebase in 1994. It is the only open source System V derivative available.

Open sourced components are snapshots of the latest Solaris release under development. Future versions of Solaris will be based on technology from the OpenSolaris project.

File Juicer - 4.9.6

File Juicer is a drag & drop can opener and data archaeologist. Its specialty is to find and extract images, video, audio or text from files which are hard to open in other ways.
It finds and extracts: JPEG, JP2, PNG, GIF, PDF, BMP, WMF, EMF, PICT, TIFF, Flash, Zip, HTML, WAV, AVI, MOV, MP4, MPG, MP3, AIFF, AU, WMV or text from files which contain data in those formats.

Lossless extraction... File Juicer doesn't convert the images/sounds/videos it finds, but saves them unchanged in their original format if possible. See the manual for details.

This is useful:

if you want to extract the images/sounds/videos from a PDF or Word document
if you have old files you can no longer open with current applications,
if you receive emails with attachments you can not open,
if you have corrupt files or databases,
if you have damaged or acidentally erased flash cards for your digital camera,
if you receive "self extracting" EXE files designed for Windows,
or if this is just faster than copying and pasting from the file.

When you have extracted some files - for instance from an accidentally erased flash card, you can then check that they are intact with QuickTime Player or convert them with other applications. For images, checking validity is done by letting File Juicer generate icons for the files. Then the files with icons are the ones which are intact.
File Juicer has Automator support so you can save just the settings you need and use them directly from Finder.

Sophisticated Algorithms
FocalBlade's sophisticated algorithms let you sharpen images without ugly side-effects and give you a lot of control of the sharpening process. FocalBlade provides three automatic sharpening options for achieving perfect sharpening results with different classes of photos. With Screen and Print buttons you can make FocalBlade automatically sharpen for screen display or for printing. There is also a semiautomatic sample area feature, which lets the user focus on an important image area and thereby apply the optimal sharpness to this area. Additionally there are several Split View modes that let you compare the original and sharpened version as well as visually perform sharpening with the help of preview stripes that present you with variations of the current settings. The manual controls include independent Sharpen and Radius sliders, a Soften slider, Halo and Shadow/Highlight Fix sliders, several masking options and a glow feature. FocalBlade also offers five different sharpening methods. Opening and saving presets for reusing certain effects is also possible.

Default Folder X 4.0.4

Default Folder X attaches a toolbar to the right side of the Open and Save dialogs in any OS X-native application (both Carbon and Cocoa). The toolbar gives you fast access to various folders and commands. You just click on the buttons to go to your favorite and recently used folders, manage the folders and files shown in the list, and make changes to your settings.

Default Folder also fixes a number of problems in Open and Save dialogs, "rebounding" back to the last selected file, putting the path listing back in the top menu, and correcting bugs in scrolling column views.
